Hyundai’s Big Guns to get All-Wheel Drive.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 5 years then you’re well aware that Hyundai is positioning itself to take over the automotive world and with cars like the Genesis Coupe, Sedan and Equus they may just succeed. Hyundai started out as a small import car company back in the mid-1980′s, but due to enhanced quality control, aggressive marketing and a great price leading strategy they’ve been able to position themselves as one of the big players in the import car market. There is no question that Honda and Toyota, two of Hyundai’s biggest competitors used to have the majority of the market share, but alas, that is no more. In another strategy to lure consumers away from their competition Hyundai’s American CEO John Krafcik announced that three of Hyundai’s best models will be getting all-wheel drive in the not to distant future. The Genesis sedan and Coupe, as well as the brand new Equus will all receive all-wheel-drive in yet another move that is poised to help Hyundai secure an even greater position amongst not only other imports from Asia, but those from Europe as well.
2012 Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet: Ugly or Innovative?
The above lump of ugliness is brought to you by the fine folks at Nissan and yep, they’re really going to build it. Meet the 2012 Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet, an SUV that has every feature you’ve never wanted. This vehicle is a real gamble for Nissan and quite honestly I see it as one that they didn’t have to take. Nissan is touting the CrossCabriolet as the first 4-seater, all-wheel-drive crossover convertible, the problem is that just because you’re first to market, it doesn’t mean that there actually IS a market for that particular product.
Mazda Styling Evolves With The Shinari Concept
Mazda has incorporated some controversial styling into their cars in recent years. The previous design styling, called Nagare, looked great on concept cars like the Furai, but didn’t translate well to production cars like the Mazda 3. I love the 2010 Mazdaspeed 3, but the “stoned guppy grin” of the front end just doesn’t do it for me. Ditto with the new Miata; a smiling, happy face grill does nothing to boost the car’s desirability among heterosexual males, regardless of how well it handles. Enter the Shinari concept, penned by new head designer Ikuo Maeda as part of “soul of motion” design, called Kodo

New EU Emission Standards Kill Ford Focus ST
Ford Focus ST. Photo: Rudolf Stricker First it was the Mazda RX-8, then the Honda Civic Type R. Now, the Ford Focus ST has become the latest victim of the stringent Euro 5 emission regulation, due to be implemented in January of 2011. The Euro 5 regulation permits no more than 1,000 mg per kilometer of CO, no more than 100 mg per kilometer of total hydrocarbons and no more than 60 mg per kilometer of nitrogen oxides. The NOx reduction alone is 25% more restrictive than the previous (Euro 4) standard, which makes our own absurd 2016 CAFE requirements seem downright forgiving

2011 VW Phaeton: Deja Vu All Over Again
Insanity, it’s said, is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different outcome. From 2004 until 2006, Volkswagen sold the Phaeton sedan in the United States, to approximately 2,300 buyers. As many of those buyers will tell you, the Phaeton was a fine automobile, saddled with an inadequately trained and equipped dealer service network.
