Every year, UK magazine Auto Express hosts their own Performance Car Of The Year Awards. This year’s top place goes to the Aston Martin, followed by Audi’s supercar, the R8. Another Audi product, the super sporty coupe RS5 closes the podium. BMW M3 Competition ranks fifth this year. M3 as seen by AutoExpress: “Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? The BMW M3 is approaching its third birthday, but the addition of a special new Competition Package has earned this extremely capable car a coveted top five finish in our performance shoot-out. The £3,315 kit is available only on the coupé.

Investors will most likely to be paid back once Fisker stock eventually goes public, like Tesla Motors . Fisker told Reuters : “We have to launch the Karma first, that is clear. You have to get the revenue and launch the Karma, but we already are making sure our company is prepared for this possibility of an IPO.” The first factory-produced version of the $88,000 Karma sports sedan was displayed at the Paris Motor Show in October. CEO Fisker, the designer of the Aston Martin DB9, V8 Vantage and BMW Z8, said at the event that the company has more than 3,000 pre-orders for the Karma and expects to start deliveries in March ( we’ll see )

Its signature lines are only mildly tweaked with each new generation, creating an evolutionary design that has only occasionally had some questionable fittings (we’re looking at you, 996 fried egg headlamps ). Our trusty spy photographers just sent along these shots of the next 911 coupe and cabriolet out testing in Europe. In previous spy sets , a heavy plastic shell covered most of the 911′s exterior, but now the prototypes are nearly naked, showing off the more chiseled lines of the iconic Porsche . LED turn indicators are found up front and more pronounced air vents flank the sides, but what we find most interesting is the more sculpted rear deck with its retractable spoiler. From some angles, we’d even say that the 911′s rump is reminiscent of current Aston Martin designs.

After last month’s revelation that the high-riding Aston would remain nothing more than a bad dream for fans of the brand, Ulrich Bez, Aston Martin CEO, recently let it slip that the crossover had been given the green light. The luxury utility is slated to ride on the Mercedes-Benz GL platform, but the company is keeping drivetrain details to itself for the time being. The Lagonda Concept debuted at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show and has since existed under a hail of disparaging comments from journalists and enthusiasts alike. Last month, Aston Martin owner David Richards officially announced that the project would be scrapped. And while there was much rejoicing at the time, it appears the Bez sees dollar signs in the mega-buck crossover market, pedigree be damned. He may not be far off of his mark, either

May we suggest marking the occasion with a vodka martini… shaken, not stirred? Harry Yeaggy’s winning bid of $4.6 million (2.9 million pounds), which includes 12 percent in auction fees for RM, will see the car that Sean Connery famously piloted make the trek all the way from London to Ohio, U.S.A. Proceeds from the sale will benefit former owner Jerry Lee’s eponymous charity. Apparently, the car is fully roadworthy in the UK, even with its dual machine guns behind the driving lights, revolving license plates, ejector seat, rear blast shield, slicer wheel caps and console-activated oil slicks.

The new BMW 6 Series Coupe took its veil off at the 2010 Paris Motor Show and in our opinion, the design came as a relief to those who were concerned BMW is going down the path of safe and conservative designs. While more of an evolutionary design, the new 6 Series Coupe brings a lot of unique design lines and sets the stage for the revolutionary 6er that will come in 7 years from now. To learn more about the car, its philosophy and design challenges, BMWBLOG spent some time around the car and in-car with the young and talented Nader Faghihzadeh, Exterior Designer of BMW 6 Series Coupe and Gran Coupe, as well as the man that draw the 7 Series interior. BMWBLOG: Gran Coupe and 6 Series Coupe – how did you get to design both models?  Did you compete internally for both cars? Nader Faghihzadeh: Actually, as a 6 Series designer, I started to take part into design competitions, so I was lucky enough to get the honor to design this car. There was also one more thing: we wanted to have the 6 Series family – you have the Coupe, the Cabrio and the Gran Coupe on top.

While we wait for the day that someone hands us a crystal ‘Emotion Control Unit’ to fire one up, we can sit back and live vicariously through Jay Leno . Mr. Leno recently got to spend some time with the British sports coupe and was kind enough to capture his experience on camera. Leno remarks that the V12 Vantage is “almost the perfect combination of hardcore track sports car and GT car.” To prove that, he turns the camera over to his tame racing driver, Justin Bel,l who brings the car to Willow Springs and puts it through its paces.
